"...we carry more luggage than the porters at King's Cross."

Well, no, actually we don't. Because that's not Rick's way to travel. One thing I love about traveling on a Europe Through the Back Door city tour is that you're on the ground, moving about by train, bus and boat. You're responsible for transporting your luggage and are required to pack light. You may have to carry your bag up a flight or two of stairs (although many of the city tour hotels have lifts). The hotels are cozy and centrally located. Your trip includes a one-week transit pass. All in all, you're encouraged to explore, and even get lost a little bit. Often it's when you try something new or look at your map to see what's on the next street over, that that is when you find the the best food or a quirky storefront you wouldn't have noticed had you stuck to the main drag. Miss O'Brien asked Mr. Bates how he'd manage the stairs, and you'll have to ask yourself the same question before you take a Rick Steves' tour. If you love to walk and don't mind a steep flight of stairs every now and then, you're ready to sign up for a Back Door trip!
